Sticky Stewed Apples

Apple pie is one of my all time favourite desserts, however it can be full of inflammatory ingredients. These sticky stewed apples give you the taste and texture of apple pie without nasties. They make the ultimate comfort food to make you feel warm and cosy inside and out

  • 4 large organic pink lady apples
  • 2 tablespoons organic ghee
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Peel, core and chop apples into bit sized chunks

Place in a saucepan with ghee, lemon juice, honey & salt

Place lid on saucepan and heat on high until apples are boiling and then reduce to medium heat and cook covered for 10 minutes

Remove lid and increase heat back to high and cook apples for 5-10 minutes or until the liquid has evaporated & apples have become sticky

Enjoy on their own or with a dollop of 24 hour yoghurt or sour cream
